About Us
Eya Design is rooted in a rich tapestry of cultures and traditions. Our journey began with the artistry of Peruvian alpaca craftsmanship, famed for its luxurious softness and timeless elegance. From the Andes, where alpaca wool has been cherished for centuries, we draw inspiration in honoring natural fibers and traditional techniques.
Adding to this foundation is the innovative spirit of Barcelona, a city renowned for its avant-garde approach to fashion and design. This Catalan influence fuels our creativity, pushing boundaries while respecting the craftsmanship that forms the core of our work.
We’ve brought this vibrant mix of landscapes and legacies to the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside, a region steeped in the tradition of wool production. Here, amidst rolling hills and pastoral beauty, we merge these cultural influences to create exceptional British knitwear.
Our heritage is more than a story—it’s a commitment to honoring the past while innovating for the future, weaving together the best of Peruvian, Catalan, and British traditions into every seam-free garment we craft.
2006: The Beginning
Our story starts in Leicester, UK, where we arrived to work as a senior technician in the knitwear industry. Recognised for our expertise, we played a key role in supporting high-street fashion brands, working with the intricate machinery that brings designs to life.
2008–2013: Building Expertise
Through years of dedication, we gained deep insights into the demands and dynamics of the UK knitwear industry. During this time, we refined our skills and built connections, laying the groundwork for what would become EYA Design.
2014: A Turning Point
The fashion industry in the region faced a significant downturn, with many retail stores closing their doors. This challenging period sparked a new vision—to take control of our future by becoming self-employed. We recognised an opportunity to focus on natural fibers and leverage our expertise to create something meaningful.
2016: Eya Design Is Born
With our mission to become a 100% seam-free knitwear manufacturer, we officially launched EYA Design in Oxfordshire. From the very beginning, our commitment to quality and sustainability resonated with clients, driving rapid growth. Each year, we invested in additional machinery to keep pace with increasing demand.
2018: Establishing Our Roots
To solidify our presence, we acquired our own premises in Wroxton, Oxfordshire. This move marked a significant milestone, enabling us to streamline our production process and establish our name as a trusted British wool knitwear manufacturer.
2020–2023: Adapting and Innovating
Even amidst global challenges, we continued to innovate and expand. Our focus on seamless knitwear and sustainability positioned us as pioneers in the evolving knitwear market.
2024: Expanding Horizons
In 2024, we took a leap forward by investing in the latest generation of WholeGarment machines. This cutting-edge technology enables us to produce intricate designs with zero waste. To deepen our expertise, we visited the headquarters of Shima Seiki in Japan, a world leader in knitting technology.
2025 and Beyond: The Rebirth
Looking ahead, 2025 marks a new chapter for EYA Design. With renewed enthusiasm, we aim to build on our achievements, exploring bold ideas and expanding our reach. As we grow, our commitment remains steadfast—to craft knitwear that celebrates heritage, embraces innovation, and champions sustainability.
At EYA Design, we are proud to redefine knitwear through seamless craftsmanship, made possible by cutting-edge Wholegarment technology. This innovative knitting process produces garments in a single piece, eliminating the need for seams. The result is a level of comfort, durability, and elegance that traditional methods cannot replicate.
We specialise in crafting 5-gauge knitwear, renowned for its perfect balance of structure and flexibility. This medium-weight gauge allows us to create garments that are both breathable and robust, making them ideal for year-round wear.
Why Seamless Matters
Our seamless knitwear offers unparalleled benefits:
- Comfort: Without seams, our garments feel smooth and soft against the skin, reducing irritation and enhancing wearability.
- Durability: Seamless construction eliminates weak points, ensuring a long-lasting, high-quality product.
- Elegance: With no visible seams, our designs are sleek, refined, and aesthetically flawless.
The Art of Wholegarment Technology
Our investment in wholegarment knitting machines allows us to produce garments with unparalleled efficiency and creativity. These machines are capable of creating complex, three-dimensional shapes, enabling us to craft:
- Intricate 5-gauge sweaters with varied textures and patterns.
- Form-fitting pieces that mold perfectly to the body.
- Lightweight yet durable garments ideal for any season.
By adopting this advanced technology, we not only elevate our craftsmanship but also uphold our commitment to sustainability and zero waste in fashion.
Celebrating Craftsmanship Through Every Piece
Every garment we create tells a story of passion, innovation, and artistry. From the soft touch of British wool to the meticulous attention to detail in every stitch, we ensure that each piece embodies the finest quality and timeless elegance.
At EYA Design, craftsmanship is more than just a process—it’s a philosophy that drives us to deliver knitwear that inspires, delights, and endures.
Eya Design was founded as a sustainable business, committed to producing the finest quality knitwear with minimal environmental impact. Our sustainability initiatives include:
- Natural Materials: We use wool, a biodegradable and renewable fiber with a low carbon footprint.
- Resource Conservation: Our energy-efficient processes minimize water and energy usage.
- Zero Waste: Leveraging the latest Wholegarment knitting technology, we produce garments in one entire piece, reducing material waste like cut losses and seam allowances.
By embracing these practices, we ensure that every piece of knitwear reflects our dedication to caring for the environment and our community.
